Coming Home 2009

Last weekend was Baylor's homecoming! We love getting to see old friends and cheer on the Bears (sadly, they lost.) I would love to take Eli to the parade, but we barely made the 11:30 kick off since we drove in that morning. Eli was pretty good for most of the game.

Eli & Daddy before the game with their Baylor gear (i.e. free pom poms and pennants.) Eli was way too distracted to look at the camera.

Sitting on the bleachers like a big boy, watching the game.

Watching Daddy clap and yell.

We went to dinner afterward with some good friends who were also gracious enough to put us up for the night. Here is Eli waiting patiently for our name to be called.

Being a ham!

I wish I knew what he was thinking here...he looks like he is going to get in some trouble. :)

Eli helping us close his suitcase.

We have a stowaway!

Place Your Bets!

Most of you know that we did not find out if Eli was going to be a boy or a girl and we are planning on doing the same thing this time around. But guessing is fun, right? I won't tell you what I think it is...don't want to sway your decision! Take a look at my side bar and place your bets!

100th Post & Balloon Love!

So, I don't think I've been a very consistent blogger since I'm just now getting to my 100th post and I've been blogging for almost a year and a half. However, I guess I've had more to say than I thought I would. I hesitated to even start a blog, thinking I would have nothing to say and no time to post it. Well, I guess Eli changed some of that. He gives me a lot of material and somehow I make the time to post about it...eventually! :)

Eli has a love of balloons (he calls them balls). It first started at his birthday. We kept one of his birthday balloons around after his party and it entertained him for days. He dragged it everywhere.

Last week, we went to Chick-fil-a for a fundraiser for Stephen's school. They had some balloons tied to paper weights all around the store. There were some teenagers in the booth next to us cutting some loose. When they saw us watching them, they asked us if Eli wanted one.

Boy did he!
We tied it to his chair so it would come loose, but I don't think we really needed to. Once he gripped it in his chubby little hand, he was not going to let go.

In the commotion of getting things together to leave, throwing trash away, etc., Eli forgot about his balloon for a second and we were able to get away from the table with the balloon still tied to the high chair. We didn't really want to drive all the way home with him bouncing it around so we could have a screaming fit when we had to take it away from him at bed time. We thought we had escaped.
Unfortunately, as we were walking out the door, a Chick-fil-a employee asked Eli if he wanted a balloon. Here they are...reunited. :)

Pumpkins!

The weather cleared up last weekend so we took Eli to a nearby pumpkin patch. He loved getting to run around and see the sights!
Eli and Daddy...ready for an adventure!

Trying to pick up the biggest pumpkin he could find.

This one was more his size...but he wasn't as interested in this one.

Examining the little pumpkin.

"Dad, what am I supposed to do with this thing?"

"Wow! There's a whole field of little pumpkins!"

"Is it ok to pick this up on my own?"

"Ball!!!!" He kept throwing them down and saying ball. :)

"I'm gonna get to the top of this hay stack...

if it's the last thing I do!"

"I did it!"

"What is this thing?"

"Am I supposed to smile?"

"This is a funny looking dog!"

"They like me!!"

"Whoa, those are really big dogs!" (they were longhorns!)

"Mommy, when is Daddy coming back with my hot dog?"

"Where is the horse? He isn't in his stall!"

"Why does Mommy like to take so many pictures with me?"

"Is it time to go yet?"

"I'm all tuckered out! What a fun place!"

15 Months!

Our baby boy is getting to be such a big boy! He is walking and talking all over the place! I feel like he does something new everyday. He loves for us to sing him songs that he can do motions to (Wheels on the Bus, 5 Little Monkeys, Twinkle Twinkle.) He has nine teeth...four upper and five lower. Eli is OBSESSED with books. He would rather read books than play with his other toys. If I ask him to find something or go get it (a ball, a book, Pita, a block, Daddy) he can. He still loves Pita and gets very excited around her so we are trying to teach him to be gentle (we aren't getting through to him quite yet though.) He is very head strong and will definitely let us know if he is unhappy about not getting his way. :)
