Favorite Toy

I'm convinced Eli's favorite toy is his hands. He LOVES them! They are his comfort and he constantly puts them in his mouth. I have so many pictures like this...

SUCCESS!!

Last weekend we took Eli on his first road trip to see my family. It is a 6 hour trip and we didn't leave until about 7:00 pm on Friday so we knew we were in for a long night. Eli did great though! He slept the whole way there!! He woke up about 10 minutes from my parents house and I fed him in his car seat. He finished up just as we got to the house at about 12:30 am. Of course he was wide awake then, but my parents loved that. We stayed up talking and playing with Eli until about 2:30. Eli ate again and went to sleep until 6:30. After that feeding my mom took over so I could get about 2 more hours of sleep. I REALLY wish she lived here! :)

On Saturday we ran to Toys R Us for a bit, then to Chick-Fil-A. Eli had a bit of a meltdown there. He cried and cried, but didn't want to eat. We think he was just over tired. Once we got back in the car he went to sleep, only to wake up at the next stop. He was actually awake most of the afternoon after that, which wasn't a good thing because when we went to dinner that night he had another meltdown. I tried to get him quite while everyone else went inside. After a while, I realized he was just too upset and not going to calm down until he gave in and went to sleep. I went in to tell everyone that I was going to take him home, but mom wanted a go at it. She took him outside and walked around with him for a while. He would get quite for a while, then start crying again. The poor thing was just so tired after his parents screwed up the little bit of a schedule he had. To make a really long story short, Stephen ended up putting him back in the car seat and driving him around until he fell asleep. He then very carefully brought Eli back inside so we could finish eating. Have I mentioned yet that we were at Red Lobster again? I think Eli and I must have the same feelings about that place.

We left about 2pm on Sunday. Eli slept until we stopped about half way through. He ate then and went back to sleep for a little while. He was awake the last hour and a half, crying off and on, but was pretty good coming home.

Eli got to see my family and they got to see him so I think the weekend was pretty much a success. Somehow in all this chaos, we didn't take a single picture! I can't believe we have nothing to show for this adventure. We'll do better next time. :)

3 Months Old!

I think these have been the fastest three months of our lives! Our Eli is growing and learning so much every day. This month he has started grabbing at toys and rattles and is "talking" to us even more. He also slept through the night for the first time (yea!), although this doesn't happen very much. He attended his second Baylor game but was pretty unhappy through most of it because it was so hot. He seems to be doing really well at school and mommy & daddy are doing ok with it too. :) Eli smiles so much when we talk to him and play with him. He is still fussy in the evenings but he is better than he was a month ago. We can't wait to see what new things he does next!

3 Month Stats: (taken at home)
Weight: 14 lbs. 7 oz
Height: 25 in.

Today we went to a pumpkin patch. Eli loves to be outside so he did pretty well!

So Kissable!

So I was listening to my favorite morning radio show and heard them talking about their most kissable baby contest. Since I, of course, think my baby is so kissable, I posted his picture. Please vote for him if you can! The babies are listed alphabetically by first name and you can vote once per day, per email address, per computer. Voting is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week so vote every day if you can! We appreciate all the votes we can get! Here is the link...

Random Facts

I've been tagged by Lauren to write 6 random facts about myself. I'm not sure if I can even think of 6 things that are interesting enough to put on here but I'm gonna try. :)

If you're tagged, here's what you do:
1. Post the rules on your blog
2. Write 6 random things about yourself
3. Tag 6 people
4. Please pass it on for fun...

1. I'm afraid of rubber bands. I can use them when I need to, I'm just really afraid of them popping on me. I really HATE it when people shoot them at me...kind of makes me panic. Is that weird?

2. I think I'm addicted to Chick-fil-a. More specifically, I'm addicted to their sweet tea. I LOVE it, but I'm trying not to drink it too much because of the caffeine.

3. I love to read, but never have time. I was reading the Karen Kingsbury series about the Baxters when I got pregnant. I was in the middle of the 7th book and stopped reading it because I was so engrossed in all my books on pregnancy. That was almost a year ago now. I really want to finish the series...maybe I'll pick it back up again tonight. Also, Nicholas Sparks has a new book out that I'd like to get my hands on.

4. I was a political science major but hate politics. I loved it in high school and college. I'm not really sure what I thought I would do with that major. Of course I'm going to vote and I have been watching some of the debates. I think I was so immersed in it for so long in college that I really don't want to have much to do with it now.

5. I loved giving birth to my son. Most people probably think it is weird to actually like the labor and delivery part of having a child, but I thought it was so amazing. It was a day we had waited for so long and even though the whole process took a little over 24 hours, it seemed to pass by so quickly! I can't wait to do the pregnancy and birth day over again...not too soon though. :)

Ok, now it's your turn! I'm tagging Ashley F., Mandy M., Sarah S., Maren H., Leigh D., Jamie S., and anyone else who hasn't done this and wants to have a little fun!

Date Night Disaster

A couple of weeks ago Stephen and I tried to go out to Red Lobster. It's his favorite, but mostly we went there because we had a gift card. I'm not a huge seafood fan, but Stephen can't resist going during the all you can eat shrimp promotion. They said it would be a 20-25 minute wait and we thought that was good since it was a Saturday night. It ended up being 45 minutes before they sat us. The hostess led us to a table in the very back of the restaurant in a small, dim, quiet, cold room. Eli had already been very good for 45 minutes in his car seat so we knew this wouldn't last much longer since he hates the car seat, but being in a quiet, dim part of the restaurant made it even worse. He almost immediately started crying so we fed him. After that he was happy for about 2 minutes (just long enough to get the pictures in this post.) To make a really long story short, it was another hour before we got our food. We had to take turns going outside with Eli and walking him around while we waited. Once our food came, Stephen would eat some, then he would relieve me so I could eat some, etc. We finally just told the waiter to bring us boxes for our food so we could get out of there. Needless to say, Stephen didn't get his fill of his all you can eat shrimp. But we can't be upset with our little stinker when he is so cute! Here are the pics of the only time Eli was happy all night.

First Day of School!

Sorry this post is so late...already two weeks behind! Our little Eli did great his first day at school. His teachers said he wasn't fussy at all, although I think they probably say that to all the mothers on the first day...I know my son, and I'm sure he was fussy. :) I didn't do as well as him but things are getting better every day. Here are pictures of my big boy on his first day!
